  2. Class Overview • We will cover health related issues that impact your life such as: • Personal wellness • Types of diseases and viruses • Social wellness • Tobacco/alcohol/drugs • Lots of other health related topics!

  3. What You Will Need Daily For Class • 1 paper notebook • 2 Pencils • Great attitude!

  4. CLASS RULES • DURING TEACHING=TWO FEET ON FLOOR, BOTTOMS IN THE SEAT, QUIET AND LISTENING • KEEP YOUR DESK AREA NEAT • NO TALKING DURING INSTRUCTION UNLESS DURING GROUP WORK, OR IF I HAVE CALLED ON YOU • KEEP HANDS AND FEET TO YOURSELF, AND LINE UP QUIETLY AND CORRECTLY WHEN NECESSARY • BE A FRIEND TO EVERYONE! • Do not touch posters, smart board, or anything on the walls.

  5. DAILY PROCEDURES

  6. ENTERING THE CLASSROOM • Take your seat quietly • Remove your pencil and notebook, and sharpen your pencil if needed. Place both items on your desk and ready to listen. (SUPER SHORT CLASS-SO BE READY TO GET STARTED) • Whisper voice with neighbors

  7. Once the Bell Rings • No talking immediately, ready for attendance to be taken • Be in your seat, ready to listen. No talking.

  8. Attendance • When the door shuts, everyone stops talking, and attendance begins immediately. • If you’re in your seat, you are here. • If you’re out of your seat, you are absent.

  9. I Need To Ask A Question/Give An Answer/Need HELP! • Quiet, raise your hand, and I will call on you • Stay seated

  10. RestroomBreaks • Take a flag with you to the restroom • Only one person may leave the room at a time • Return to class promptly

  11. Lining Up For Lunch/Activities • Quietly place your belongings under desk • Walk and line up single file behind the door • In the hallway: single file, no talking, follow instructions

  12. Assignments for Class Work • Have both pencils sharpened and ready, PRIOR to tardy bell • Everything off desk and stored • NO TALKING, READY TO LISTEN

  13. TURNING IN WORK • Baskets are labeled on “the front table” • Place your assignment in the appropriate grade level. If its not in the correct grade level, it may get overlooked. • Make-up work is available the following day in the yellow folders on “the front table” • Submit your make-up work in the correct basket the following day or upon completion

BREAKING RULES/PROCEDURES&The CONSEQUENCES(this does include being late to class and “out of seat” tardiness) • 1ST TIME-WARNING, AND REINFORCEMENT UNDERSTANDING OF BEHAVIOR • 2ND TIME-REMOVAL TO TIMEOUT SEAT (Written explanation of your bad behavior and why, ½ page) • 3RD TIME-PARENT CONTACT AND REFERRAL TO MR. BURKHART (AER)

  15. BAD SUB-REPORT? • Substitute teacher will leave your name and problem behavior • Immediate office referral to principal • No EXCEPTIONS!

  16. SMILE! • FOLLOW OUR PROCEDURES AND RULES OF THE CLASS, AND WE WILL HAVE A GREAT 4.5 WEEKS TOGETHER! • YOU WILL LEAVE MY CLASS A HEALTHIER STUDENT, AND WITH A BETTER GRASP ON HOW TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE! • LETS HAVE FUN THIS YEAR!!!!
