  2. What’s out there? • At the App Store there are currently almost 1.150 million apps. • And out of those, 117 thousand apps are in Education section! That is where all those opportunities are. But there are also challenges.

  3. 117k apps? • Most of them offer interactive elements, combinations of audio, video and text. • Many of them are in game forms. • We can learn anything we want - from geography and biology to math. • Many of them are free – that does sound good, doesn’t it? • But is quality guaranteed?

  4. I Can Get No Satisfaction • No, Mick, you can: • Try professional content from established publishing houses. • First big publishing houses are jumping on the interactive bandwagon… and it’s already happening even in the Czech Republic!

  8. Classroom use • Videos are great motivation element in any lesson (+ gap filling) • Getting ready for CLIL (Content and LanguageIntegratedLearning) • Flip cards can be used for games • Audio recordings can be used to improve listening skills or for dictation.

  9. Self study • I choose only topics I am interested in/I need. • I don’t have to learn phonetic transcription as the app includes recordings. • I can self check if I remember the words through flip cards. • If you try videos and gap filling exercises, the app will check it for you. • I can study anywhere and anytime!
