  5. Strategic plans … to implementation … to performance reporting Our roadmap is now one of 13 key elements of the process to form the Agency Strategy

  6. Conduct robotic and human lunar expeditions to further science and to test new exploration approaches, technologies, and systems that will enable future human exploration of Mars. Conduct sustained, long-term robotic and human exploration of Mars to understand its history and evolution, to search for evidence of life, and to expand the frontiers of human experience and knowledge. Conduct a sustained program of solar system exploration for scientific purposes and to support human exploration. Conduct advanced telescope searches for Earth-like planets and habitable environments around neighboring stars. Develop an exploration transportation system to deliver crew and cargo from the surface of Earth to exploration destinations and to return the crew safely to Earth. Complete assembly of the International Space Station and focus its use on supporting space exploration goals. Safely transition from the Space Shuttle to a new exploration-focused launch capability utilizing new or existing launch systems. black = L0 reqs blue = proposed Conduct a comprehensive program to explore the origin, evolution, structure, and destiny of the Universe. Conduct a program to determine how the living Earth system is affected by Earth’s internal and surface dynamics and by other environmental processes, and to understand the consequences and hazards for life on Earth as well as the implications for the evolution of life elsewhere. Explore the Sun-Earth system to enable a full understanding of how the changing Sun affects Earth, its environments, and its atmospheric dynamics and chemistry, as well as how it affects the interplanetary medium, the Moon, and Mars and the implications for human exploration of the solar system. Enable a transformed air transportation system which is safer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly, and develop the next generation of atmospheric vehicles for our world and others. Identify and pursue opportunities to educate students and the public and to expand the nation’s base of technical skills and capabilities. Develop a comprehensive national plan for utilization of nuclear systems for the advancement of space science and exploration. Strategic Roadmaps

  7. Agency Goal: “Explore the Sun-Earth System to understand the Sun and how it affects the natural and human systems of the Earth, other solar system environments, and the implications for human exploration.” Explore the Sun-Earth system to enable a full understanding of how the changing Sun affects Earth, its environments, and its atmospheric dynamics and chemistry, as well as how it affects the interplanetary medium, the Moon, and Mars and the implications for human exploration of the solar system.
