Salinger dies aged 91. Summary & Title Information *this is the summary and the title explanation of the story:the summary of the story On Saturday the story began when Holden Copperfield got kicked out of his school Pencey prep, and fall in fight with his roommate Stradlater, then at the same night he packs up his bags and leave in the middle of the night by train to his hometown New York. He decided to hang around till Wednesday so his parents won't know about his flunking in four of his subjects at school. He booked in a hotel, then and danced with three tourists girls. he went to this night club, then he went back to the hotel. on Sunday he hang around the city from Grand central station, to theater district, to radio city musical, then to the central park. then at the same night he sneaks to his parents apartment to visit his little sister phoebe. Later that night Holden visits his English teacher Mr. Antolini then Holden leaves in the middle of the night. The next day Holden meets phoebe in the central park then he went with her to the zoo, then the story ends when he told the reader how he is missing his friends.*The explanation of the title:The catcher in the rye is the dream of Holden Copperfield who wants to save the kids who is playing some games in field of rye. He have to stand in the edge of cliff of that field and catch all the kids not to fall when they will start running and all. He doesn't want anyone to feel the same thing as he felt about his brother when he died.

5. The Catcher in the Rye Theme Based on many events that took place in the story; melancholy and being far away from your people that Holden loves was the main theme of the story. As we read on in the story we can find that Holden is trying to escape from the world around him to place when he imagine himself whit Jane Gallagher, to cheer up and have fun.

7. Two Characters Allie Caulfield Holden’s brother, was two years younger then Holden,. He had a red hair., he died of Leukemia when Holden was only thirteen years old. Allie’s death was such a terrible event for Holden; it was one of his worst moment in his life that had a lot of consequences in Holden’ future. Allie was a writer who liked to write poems all the time, and everywhere by using green ink. As Holden said Allie was really sensitive and kind of emotional. “….. he was the most intelligent member in the family. He was also the nicest, in lots of ways. He never got mad at anybody.” (Pg. 38). This quote explains how Allie was amiable, clever, and had the best sense of humor. Allie basically was the only person who Holden could trust and believe. Phoebe Caulfield Phoebe is only ten-years old. She has a red hair almost like Allie’s hair. She’s skinny like Holden. “…if you tell old phoebe something, she knows exactly what the hell you’re talking about.”(Pg. 67) This quote shows how smart old Phoebe is, and how she likes to listen to people. According to Holden’s respond that phoebe is really intelligent kid, she had all A’s in her classes; her teacher were always tells her mother how glad to have a smart kid like phoebe in their classes. Also, Holden explains how she likes to listen to other’s specially to Holden, even his boring stories. According to Holden, Phoebe likes to read poems, and books, not only reading them she likes to write poems while she’s only ten.

8. Holden's dog poop Many things and events in Holden life made him the way he is now. The death of his brother Allie made a big empty space in his life which he is not use to, he didn't want to accept the fact of his brother death "I slept in the garage the night he died. and I broke all the goddam window with my fist, just for the hell of it." Pg. 39. another thing that made Holden worry is that he is always want to be in touch with someone he loves like Jane who he is always remember all the good times he use to spend with her. "on my way out of the lobby, I got old Jane Gallagher on the brain again. I got her on, and couldn't get her off" Pg. #76

9. SYMBOLISM Red Hat The ducks • It refers to protection and power that makes Holden think wisely and individually. • J. D. Salinger used the ducks in the story to show how life becomes harder to Holden as he gets into more troubles.

10. Milad’s favorite Scene • “Life is a game, boy. Life is a game that one plays according to the rules.” (P.8) • Holden was at Spencer’s house a history teacher and they were talking about how Holden will be leaving the school. This quotation is my favorite. First mission was high school and I'm in my to finish according to the rules and then I will be continuing the rest of the game.

11. Ban’s Favorite scene • Unfortunately, Holden’s life had a lot of pain and suffer which makes him not caring about anything. It doesn’t matter to him losing anything because there is nothing in his life that is meaningful. Meanwhile, he lost many people he liked and that what made him have all these consequences that effect his life, and made him be a cynic about his future. This passage is my favorite passage; in my opinion, this sentence explains almost the whole book because it talks about Holden’s past, present, and future. • “I never seem to have anything that if I lose it I’d care too much about.” (Pg.89)

12. Jonas’s Favorite Scene This means that if you have a store try to keep it secret because once you start sharing it you might miss it so much. In addition, if people read this passage it may remind them about their life experience. Moreover, this reminds me when I told my friends about how I left my country and friends there, and I started missing everybody. “Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.” (Chapter 6)

Farkad’s Favorite scene When I read this scene, I had kind of a sudden chill because Holden got to this point of happiness that I thought he can never get just by looking at his sister going around on a horse, simple as that. I felt happy for holden… “I was so damn near bawling, I felt so damn happy, if you want to know the truth” (Page 213)

14. Maan’s favorite scene The ducks and the central park lagoon lake is another thing that makes Holden related to because we can understand from reading the novel how Holden felt that the ducks are representing himself in the same way they have to deal with the environment and fly from place to another he have to deal with situations in his life, also when the author described the frozen lake and how it started freezing from the sides to the center which meant that the life won't give you space to move to be free and how it will be hard and harder if you let your issue grow up without finding solutions for it. This is my favorite scene in the story because it is really sometimes describe how life is hard, but however its we have to be patient and wait to the last to get what we wants. "I figured I'd go by the little lake and see what the hell the ducks were doing, see if they were around or not." pg. #153

Statement of Value Maan I learned how important to think about our decisions in life, and how wisdom we have to be not fall in the consequences that will lead to the destruction of our lives which even might hurt others. 17. Literary critic I will put two thumps down for The Catcher in Rye book. First, reason is because it contains so much inappropriate language. Second, it should not be available in school because it explains how Holden got in so many physical encounters at school, and it may cause other students in school to do exactly the same thing. Third, it explains how Holden left school and went to hotel without telling his parents, besides it may have effect on teenager to do the same thing. In addition some people would think is a great book read and it is interesting. However, sometimes it gets boring when he gets out of the subject for something silly, and it takes him the entire chapter. It mentions how Holden dislike everybody and he thinks he is better than anyone else and which makes the book not significance to the people. In addition the catcher in rye should not be published because is not valuable for education. Honestly, books like this that has so plenty of inappropriate language should not be read in school nor by educated people. ````
