  1. El Convento dates from the year 1555 and is situated in a historic area only 36 km from Malaga international airport and 5 km f rom the beach.

  2. El Convento The Monastery dates from the year 1555 and is situated in a historic area of the town of Velez-Malaga only 36 kms from Malaga International airport. The convent has a rectangular Mudejar cloister with arcades on two floors, a stunning Baroque church, sacristy, atrium access, garden of about 1000 m2 and it also has the facilities and monastic dependencies of the closed order of nuns which were in use until 2009.

  3. There are 20 medieval bedrooms that still remain intact, although in past centuries it was possible accommodate more than 50 religious people. To one side is a courtyard entered from the main street with two houses which could be turned into a shop and tapas bar. It has about 3,000 m2 on three floors and is declared of Cultural Interest and is a listed monument. The monastery is in good condition but does need some maintenance and repairs.

  6. Project There is a basic project in place to adapt the building to hotel use approved by the Ministry of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucia. The proposed hotel was very conservative, keeping all the great halls of the property as public spaces, for conferences, meetings, other functions etc, so that they were only 2 junior suites and 12-15 double rooms. It would be possible to make extend in the garden where there could be 12 or more rooms built on 2 or 3 floors.
