  1. Aaron Thomas: Skills of Senior Associate Today we will talk more on the basics. As a manager you might have many skills but being an effective, efficient, and productive manager requires a distinct set of skills no matter what industry you are in. Aaron Thomas is responsible for scheduling both personal and professional tasks that the executive needs to complete. This involves organizing tasks by level of urgency, taking calls and communicating via email. To be effective a manager must Haveinterpersonal relationship skills: To gain respect and get cooperation from your team you must be able to show empathy, show respect for others and their values and opinions. Also, listen to your team as well as offer praise and encouragement where applicable to build their esteem and trust. A truly effective manager will concentrate on the strengths of their team members and make their weaknesses irrelevant. As a manager you need to develop the trust and confidence in your team as well as resolve problems and issues within the team is pertinent. Encourage your team to ask for help, get involved, and participate. And as always lead by example by getting involved and participating. Have good communication skills: Remember as a manager you are often the liaison between senior management and your team. As liaison and team leader you must ensure that communication is smooth and clear to avoid misunderstandings and dissatisfaction at all levels. You will also have to engage in job coaching, training, and support so having communication skills is key. Be a good REALISTIC planner: In order to achieve organizational goals and objectives as well as delegate work and meet deadlines an effective manager must be good at planning and have effective time management skills. Being a good planner also helps the manager save costs to the organization and organizational resources.

  2. Be a good decision maker and appraiser: As a manager making decision will be a BIG part of your daily routine. Aaron Thomas says, You will have to determine how to assign tasks, how to empower you and your team, and even how to approach and motivate employees that lack performance. As an appraiser you must have the ability to evaluate procedures and tasks and decide what's the best way to produce the most desired outcome. You will also need to appraise and review team member's performances and offer feedback. Many say being a manager is a calling, but even so knowing your role and the skills it takes to be effective is often times something you must learn. As a manager you are the leader, role model if you will, and your role will be to guide and direct others to success, so be a success and learn for you and your team.
