  3. What is Pastoral Care? It is the ministry of being present with persons who are hurting (term pastoral care refer to Christian and Jewish religious traditions and cannot be used to describe the care offered by Buddhist, Muslim or Hindu caregivers)

  6. Who Are Pastoral Caregivers? Those called to the ministry by God who have a gift of being present with people

ACTS 13:15Ye men and brethen, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people say on. • We are sent by the church and the Holy Spirit just like Paul and his company (Acts 13:2) • Prayer (and fasting on occasions) should precede our individual ministry assignments (Acts 13:3) • Pastoral care givers are to encourage the people (Acts 13:15)

  22. Covering - Ask yourself • Who is your spiritual leader here on earth? • Who is your confidant? Proverbs 4:13 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. • Who is your wise counsel? (Proverbs 1:5) A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel. • Who is your spiritual mentor? Proverbs 15:22 “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

  23. Covering Demonstration – watch leadership Is there a Pastor you admire? Imitation – do what leadership does Watch how they Pastor and watch how they prepare. Note qualities you want to have Transformation – change from what leadership does to what your gift allows you to do Covering helps you to understand your passion, anointing, calling.

When to minister; when not to minister Minister when you’re healthy • Rested • Spiritually sound Acts 20:28 - Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Don’t minister when • Tired, irritable • Dry season • Still hurting • There is nothing wrong with saying “NO”
