Photo:depositphotos.com This small town called Hallstatt is located in Upper Austria, in the region Salzkammergut. It is situated along the picturesque river bank named identically to the city. From all directions Hallstatt is surrounded by the massive and marvelous Dakhshtayn, which is so beautiful that it’s impossible to hide admiration of its monumental natural beauty. The region is famous for the unique list of natural richness and greatness. In 1997 it was included by unanimous resolution of the commission in the UNESCO list of cultural heritage sites of universal value. The village of Hallstatt is an unbelievably fascinating place that even the Chinese have created a copy of the ancient salt mine village. But only in the original will you discover this extremely unusual culture with such a history all in a fantastic mountain setting. The market municipality was already inhabited in the 1st millennium before Christ: during this period – the iron age – the civilization flourished.
