  1. Why Upgrading to XOAR Carbon Fiber Props May Be the Best Thing You Can Do for Your Drone Drone propellers are virtually always made from one of several components. Those components are plastic, wood, sometimes (though rarely) aluminum, and carbon fiber. It’s fairly common for those commenting on drones to assert that one sort of propeller is better than another. The thing is, that’s actually not the case. It’s closer to the truth that each type of propeller has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. The best propellers for the job depends on the sort of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) one is flying, the kind of flying you’re doing, and the goals of that sort of flying. There are certainly some situations in which carbon fiber propellers wouldn’t be necessary, or even the best option for UAV pilots and hobbyists. However, for a huge number of applications and among a large proportion of the world’s UAV pilots, carbon fiber propellers—specifically those that have been incredibly finely engineered by XOAR—can prove a terrific upgrade in their drones’ performance. Wooden Propellers With tech as high-grade as carbon fiber props, wood may seem a little passé. That, however, isn’t the case. Wooden propellers, like XOAR’s beechwood props, are terrific at dampening vibration, which means an incredibly smooth, even flight. (That they look great doesn’t hurt either.) Some of the world’s foremost aerial cinematographers and RC plane pilots insist on wooden props and RC propellers for the smoothness of their performance.

  2. Plastic Propellers Most drones that the average drone pilot would buy are going to come equipped with plastic propellers. Those have two chief advantages. The first is price. Plastic props are almost certainly going to be one of the least expensive options. And for a hobbyist just looking for a little basic, uncomplicated drone fun, that’s just fine. The second advantage is one they share with wooden props: Plastic propellers break more easily than carbon fiber propellers. That may not seem like an advantage, but sometimes a prop failing to break during a crash means that something else, like the motor bearing, might. Carbon Fiber Propellers Carbon fiber is a great material for propellers. Carbon fiber is stiff, strong, and light, which is a sort of trifecta of characteristics you’re looking for in drone props. That stiffness results in less vibration during flight, which means better performance for your UAV, more efficiency, and faster, longer, higher flights. Less vibration also means a quieter flight, particularly when using a high-quality XOAR drone motor. That lack of vibration also precludes the “jello effect” that shows up in the videos shot with UAVs supported by less efficient props. So if you’re looking to upgrade your drone game, consider XOAR’s carbon fiber propellers. Achieve new heights for your UAVs and other RC vehicles with XOAR, at https://www.xoarintl.com/
