  1. 4 Common RV Types to Get You Started with RVing Recreational vehicles are like a home away from home, that allow you to travel with much more belongings than a pickup, or for that matter, any other private land vehicle. When you have one of these marvels, you can travel far and wide and still be close to the feeling of being at home. Purchasing an recreational vehicle, however, can be a tough decision. Even if you go the salvage way and the abundance of options available in RV auctions might leave you puzzled. To help narrow down your options, we list four types of options you can find in RV auctions and their respective features. Take a look. 1. Travel Trailers Thanks to numerous advantages over other types of RVs, travel trailers are often the first choice for those who are new to RVing. These are affordable and are also available in various sizes and types, starting from a pop-up camper of 8 to 16 feet – ideal for weekend getaways – to an outfitted 40-feet trailer with plenty of amenities for regular RVers, to truck campers. Moreover, unlike motorhomes, you can drop travel trailers anywhere, as they are non-motorized vehicles. The disadvantage is that learning to tow them may take some practice. 2. Motorhomes Most people who think of RVing, first conjure up images of motorhomes that are large, self-propelled RVs, and almost resemble a small apartment. Consequently, motorhomes offer all the amenities close to a home. They are divided into four categories: Class A These are the biggest motorhomes, from 29ʹ to 45ʹ long. They can accommodate from six to eight people, and offer the largest number of amenities.

  2. Class B Class B are the smallest motorhomes that are 18ʹ to 24ʹ feet long, and sleep up to four people at a time. They are easy to park, and are more fuel-efficient than Class A or Class C motorhomes. Class B+ Class B+ motorhomes offer a combination of Class B and C motorhomes. They are a better choice over Class B for bigger families – thanks to their larger cabin size that includes sleeping arrangements, kitchen, and living space. Class C Class C motorhomes are 30ʹ to 33ʹ feet long and can accommodate up to eight people. A larger version of van campers, these motorhomes offer passenger seats and cabin over the driver. 3. 5th Wheels 5th Wheels are huge travel trailers, with a wide range of amenities, which makes them as spacious and comfortable as a motorhome. The difference is that these RVs require a gooseneck hitch for towing. 5th Wheels cost less than motorhomes and are often easy to maneuver compared to other travel trailers, thanks to their 5th wheel coupling that provides more control when towing them. Like other travel trailers, you can detach 5th Wheels and use your truck the way you want. 4. Toterhomes If you think you’ve seen the biggest vehicles in the world of RVs, Toterhomes might make you rethink. These behemoths take components from a fifth wheel, motorhome, travel trailer, and toy hauler. Resembling tractor trailers, they are basically engineered to haul several things. That’s why professional race car teams often use the RV type. In fact, toterhomes can also house sleeping quarters to small planes; yes, they are so big! They may include every conceivable amenity from showers to kitchen and lounging areas. The con is that toterhomes can be quite expensive in comparison to most RVs. You can, however, grab a super saver deal from our list of salvage RVs for sale. Conclusion If you’re starting with RVin, and need a vehicle that you can park with ease and detach when you want, go for a travel trailer. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a spacious and luxurious RV, go for a motorhome or toterhome. As far as buying a used RV is concerned, Green Salvage has got you covered. Our RV auctions list a wide spectrum of RVs, and therefore, are sure to end your search for an affordable RV.
