  1. WAISMANN INSTITUTE Presents Five Signs it Could Be Drug Addiction

  2. 5 general signs that a person may be struggling with drug addiction • Avoidance • Anger • Lies • Intoxication • Becoming “The Victim”

  3. Avoidance • Try to avoid the reality of emotional or physical pain. • Some want to take a break from the daily pressure, stress or even boredom of life. • Avoidance helps perpetuate the addiction by shutting off certain topics of discussion.

  4. Anger • Anger associated with drug addiction is often frightening and confusing. • Anger associated with drug addiction can be explosive and dangerous as well.

  5. Becoming “The Victim” • People who feel victimized can sometimes develop a strong sense of entitlement. • The deeper into drugs they get, the less worthy they feel and the harder it becomes to seek help.

  6. Lies • When the addicted person swears they will stop doing drugs, pleading for forgiveness and understanding of others, but goes back to drug abuse time and time again. • Everyone begins to feel disillusioned and bitter about empty promises and lies.

  7. Intoxication • Look for bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, stumbling, impaired coordination, emotional indifference and an unusual odor on breath, body, or clothing.
