  1. Looking At Rims For Your Car

  2. I decided I wanted to get a different set of rims for my car because the rims that came on the car were ugly.

  3. Looking at all of my options there were two main ways I could go about getting a new set.

  4. The first way is to buy a brand new set from a dealer.

  5. They would be new and would be guaranteed to last, but they would be expensive as well.

  6. The second way is to buy a set off of Craigslist.

  7. If I buy a set from Craigslist they would be much cheaper, but they would also be used and not guaranteed to last.

  8. After thinking about those choices, I decided I would take a risk and just buy a set on Craigslist to save money.

  9. Searching for a couple of days I managed to find a set for only $200 and they came with tires.

  10. Now this is a great deal normally from a dealership they would cost about $150 for each rim plus another $100 for each tire, so I would be saving around $800.

  11. I met with the guy and test fitted one of the rims to see if it would fit my car correctly.

  12. Then I took the rims to my local shop to get them mounted and aligned.

  13. Not All Rims Fit All Cars

  14. Rims have different sizes, they are like shoes.

  15. They have to be the right size in order to fit your vehicle correctly.

  16. There are multiple sizes that you must look at in order to see if they fit your car.

  17. The Different Sizes Of Rims

  18. The first size is probably the most commonly known and that is the diameter of the rim.

  19. The most common sizes for these are 16 inches and 17 inches.

  20. The second size is the width of the rim the smaller the size the more narrow the rim and vice versa.

  21. The third size and the one most people do not know is the offset of the rim.

  22. The offset is the distance from the mounting point to the inside edge of the rim.

  23. The offset is probably the most important size to check.

  24. If it is too small the tire could be hitting the inside of the fender well or not even reach the studs to be mounted.

  25. While on the other hand, if the size is too big the tire could be poking out way too far past the fenders.

  26. Shopping For Rims

  27. When you are shopping for new rims for your car the most important part to anyone is probably the look that you want your car to have.

  28. Remember though not every style of rim will fit your car, so first check the sizing that you need to fit then go through and check the style.
