  1. July 18, 2017 Signs You Need to Ditch Your Old Wheels and Go to Used Car Dealerships While many drivers would want to keep their vehicles forever, time will come that they’d need to say goodbye to them. This is because cars age and become more unsafe due to wear and tear and mechanical issues that would be too costly to repair. You need an objective mind to determine when it’s time to let go of your rusty, old car and invest in a new one. Knowing the signs to replace your ride is essential in making a wise, informed decision. Here are some: Page | 1

  2. Frequent Breakdowns and Repairs Breakdowns and repairs are normal when your car passes its prime. This is because parts aren’t that strong as before. However, if the breakdowns become more frequent and you’re spending too much on repairs, then maybe it’s time for a new one. On average, cars shouldn’t experience more than two breakdowns a year. If you find yourself needing to replace exhaust systems and radiators or fix severe engine problems every two or four months, you’re in big trouble. The money you spend on repairs is probably better used for purchasing a replacement. Crumbling Interior The state of your car’s interior can indicate a need for a replacement. If it’s getting uncomfortable inside no matter how many times you have repaired interior parts, getting a new vehicle is probably a good idea. There are several signs of a serious interior problem, including holes in the floor, torn and ripped seat covers, leaks in the windows or sunroofs, and faulty knobs. With such an interior, your car is ready to retire and you need to start shopping for a replacement. Unappealing Exterior Are your family and friends hesitant to ride the car because they don’t want to be seen in it? Unsightly exterior that can’t be remedied by repainting and repairs is a sign that you need to let the vehicle retire. Rusty trunks, fading paint, and dents don’t look good on any car. You may be used to the exterior since you’ve had the car almost all your life but in reality, they make you appear that you’re not taking care of your vehicle. Emission Test Failure The older your car is, the less likely it will pass emission standards. Since these models usually don’t have technologies that make tailpipe to blow out smoke that’s not that harmful to the Page | 2

You would have to spend a lot to get it cleaner and more eco-friendly and it’s not just worth it because it’s too outdated already. It’s best to find a cleaner, more environment-friendly car, instead. Using the same vehicle for so many years leads to feelings of attachment. However, it’s important when to realize that you have to find a better replacement to enhance your driving life.
