Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens.He's the most celebrated humorist in American history.His boyhood ended at twelve when his father died, at 18 he set out on his own.Although Twain became remarkably successful his later life was shadowed by disappointment and tragedy, and as he grew older he turned into a bitter man. One of his famous quotes was,"Everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows anybody.".

    2. Biographical Info. Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He’s the most celebrated humorist in American history. His boyhood ended at twelve when his father died, at 18 he set out on his own. Although Twain became remarkably successful his later life was shadowed by disappointment and tragedy, and as he grew older he turned into a bitter man. One of his famous quotes was,”Everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows anybody.”

    5. Historical Period 1835-1910 was the historical period when Mark Twain wrote. The historical period influenced by his writing was the civil war, which he was a solider in the confederate army.

    7. “Huckleberry Finn” When it was first published in 1884, the book disturbed and offended many reviews particularly spokesmen for the genteel tradition. They called it vulgar, rough,inelegant,irreverent, coarse, semi-obscene, trashy, and vicious. Today, we know the true worth of the book. Everyone now agrees the “Huckleberry Finn” is a masterpiece; it is the one book in our literature that highbrows and lowbrows can agree on.

    8. Theme One of the major theme’s of “Huckleberry Finn” is slavery. Mark Twain was obviously against slavery because it is hypocritical. Throughout the book, we see Huck’s interacting with Jim as a human, while everyone else treats him just as a piece of property. Twain was especially against the Christians who promoted slavery.

    9. The Style Mark Twain wrote that “the difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter.” Choosing the correct word(s) is very important. Not only to make your thoughts clear, but also don’t confuse the reader and “muddy” your argument.
