Information that should be kept in mind by translators

Translators should communicate with clients and understand their requirements. Instead of a word for word translation they should get the context and cultural references right when translating. It is also important to maintain the tone of the document. http://www.novoterm.se/

  1. WORKING AS A TRANSLATOR: TIPS TO REMEMBER Individuals working as translators typically need to have a bachelor’s degree and expertise in multiple languages. Translators work on a variety of projects which could include, but are not limited to, scientific documents, legal documents, literary projects, educational resources, and online content. When working as a translator, there are certain important things that need to be kept in mind. http://www.novoterm.se/

  2. COMMUNICATE WITH THE CLIENT Whether working with a translation agency or in a freelance capacity, communication with the client is of utmost importance. It is essential that the translator understands the client’s specific requirements, gets a hold on the background of the document that needs to be translated, and gets an insight about the target audience.

  3. DO NOT TRANSLATE WORD FOR WORD When translating a document, it is important to get cultural references, contexts and cues right. Certain words that may work perfectly in one language can easily translate into something awkward if the translation is literal.

  4. GET THE STYLE RIGHT Before translating any document, it is important to get the style of the content right. A piece of literary content, made formal and rigid will not flow or read well; at the same time, translating a more formal document requires a more formal tone. Getting the style of the document right is very important to ensure consistency across languages. http://www.novoterm.se/#goda-rad
