  1. Making of steel pipes Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon along with a small percentage of other metals such as nickel, chromium, aluminium etc. Steel pipes are becoming more and more sought after in the global market as their properties are beneficial to different areas and industries. Therefore there arises the need to be enlightened about the process of manufacturing of steel pipes. Steel is first cast into a more workable starting form (hot billet or flat strip). The raw materials reach the storage bin through the unloader, and then they are squeezed into a circle through the rolls, welded and sealed by high frequency, scraped and then squeezed into the required steel tubes shape by forming rolls. Steel strip is passed over a series of rollers (6-9) to make a folding. Finally the steel pipesare reduced to specific dimensions and cut into the prescribed length to meet the needs of the customer. It is then directed to subsequent finishing and inspection operations. Manufacturing process of other steel pipes An erw pipe is made by rolling metals and then heating the two edges with electricity so they weld down its length, and form a seam. It is manufactured with electrical resistance welding and shaping. As no fusion metals are used during the manufacturing process an erw pipe is extremely strong and durable. Seamless pipes are formed by forcing molten metal through a round dye with a plug in the centre to form a long tube of continuous metal, cut into appropriate lengths. They have no joints to prevent accidental leakage or

  2. contamination and can also withstand high operating pressures and temperatures. Square pipesare formed from coils and then run through a series of dies. They are welded from inside to form their shape. They Have the ability to withstand extreme temperature and pressures, are light weight, strong but remain unaffected by shocks and vibration.
