  6. Electronic Databases – Why not go straight to Google? • Access to very specific information • Relatively high degree of authority on the information found within • No duplicates • More powerful “advanced searching” • You have already paid for them (and they are NOT cheap!  )

  7. Accessing the Library’s Databases • When on-campus, access is seamless • When off-campus, a valid UTD-ID number is required for access.

  8. Selecting the Right Databases • Alphabetical List– If you already know the name of the database you want to use, or if you want specific information about a database • Subject List– If you know the topic you want to research, but you’re not sure which databases will work the best
