  1. Zebra OSPFv3 status Yasuhiro Ohara yasu@sfc.wide.ad.jp WIDE Project

  2. Implementation • RFC2740 - OSPF for IPv6 • A free, open source code from scratch • about 17,000 lines in C • A common platform : “Zebra” • Uses Zebra’s Library (tasking, timers, etc.) • Portability (tested on *BSD) • Configurable via Telnet • Routing info can be exchanged with other protocols (RIPng, BGP4+)

  3. Functionality • Stability improved after IETF48 • Supported • OSPF Backbone (0.0.0.0) routing • Route exchange with other protocols • Not yet supported • Area function • SNMP • Full support before 2001/04

  7. Statistics • Data gathering (duration): 72 hour • CPU load • SPF frequency: • maximum interval: 15 hours (at least) • average interval: 13 minutes • Time taken to run SPF • maximum: 66 mili-seconds • average: 25 mili-seconds

  8. Statistics(Link bandwidth) • OSPFv3 (statistics) • Point-To-Point: • 209bps (Tx: 104bps Rx: 105bps) • Broadcast (DR, 3 neighbors): • 430bps (Tx: 212bps Rx: 218bps) • RIPng (calculated) • 143 routes * 20 bytes * 8 (bits/byte) / 30 seconds • 762bps

  9. TODOs to Full support • Synchronization with BGP • Area • Transit, Stub, NSSA, Virtual link • SNMP(MIB) • What else?
