  3. Study Material Public Administration Public Administration since its inclusion as an optional subject in Civil Services Examination has been a popular subject. Public Administration is a multidisciplinary subject. We find inputs of Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Law, Anthropology & Management. The beauty of Public Administration is the availability of limited core concepts. A student has not to be perplexed with plethora of facts. Interlinkages of topics is another speciality of Public Administration. In other words, once a student has mastered a concept, he/she can apply that concept in other parts of the syllabus. For Public Administration, a student has just to refer 3- 4 standard books which cover the whole syllabus. From the Institute student will get qualitative study material.

  4. After the change in pattern of examination in 2013, Public Administration is the optional subject that covers maximally the syllabus of General Studies. A student will have direct help from Public Administration in about 15 questions in preliminary examination. In the Main examination, the second paper of General Studies excluding International Relations is part of Public Administration. In the third paper of General Studies, topics like Internal Security are directly related to Public Administration. In the fourth paper of General Studies, nearly fifty percent of the topics are related with Public Administration. In the paper of essay which checks candidate’s ability of flow of ideas, coherence of ideas etc. the nature of Public Administration will be a helping tool the candidate in essay paper. Also topics of essay will also be related to Public Administration.

  5. Geography The growing weightage of GS makes it inevitable to go for an optional which can cover an ample chunk of the GS syllabus and thus lessen our burden. Also be mindful of essay and ample availability of Study Material, presence of peer groups and scoring nature. It this context consider the case of Geography as an optional. It is one of the most fundamental subjects taught at school level. Everybody knows what comprises the subject of Geography and everybody has some sort of background in Geography. The best aspect of Geography is that its 1st paper is like a science subject. Concepts in 1st paper are systematic & require only basic understanding. In the 2nd paper a student has to memorize some facts. However, the student who has mastered 1st paper, has no difficulty to grasp the facts.

  6. History History has been one of the popular choices for Civil Services examination preparation. The most important characteristic of this subject is its syllabus. It motivates students to learn in a systematic and organized manner. The biggest myth about History is that it is a very vast subject with huge syllabus. It is true to some extent, but it gets interesting with a strategic approach. Unlike other subjects, there are no new facts & updates in History due to which once prepared, the syllabus only requires revision and no new facts & updates. History syllabus connects ancient India, with contemporary incidents, for example as it connects urbanization of Indus Valley Civilization and Magadhan empire to today’s smart city concepts.
