  2. Kenya’s economy grew at its fastest pace in over a decade in 2022, expanding by 7.1%, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). The growth was driven by strong performance in agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. Agriculture grew by 7.2%, led by increased production of maize, tea, and coffee. Manufacturing grew by 8.1%, supported by increased demand for locally produced goods. Tourism grew by 17.1%, as international arrivals rebounded from the pandemic.

  3. The government’s infrastructure spending also contributed to the growth. The government invested heavily in roads, railways, and power projects in 2022. The strong economic growth is expected to continue in 2023. The KNBS projects that the economy will grow by 6.7% in 2023.

  4. The growth is being driven by a number of factors, including: A favorable external environment, with strong growth in Kenya’s export markets. Increased government spending on infrastructure. A recovery in tourism. A favorable business environment, with low interest rates and a stable currency. The strong economic growth is expected to benefit all Kenyans. It is expected to create jobs, reduce poverty, and improve living standards.
