  1. Welcome to the Los Altos Rod & Gun Club Manual Trap Range • Please follow all the safety rules posted on the large sign at the Manual Trap range. Ask the Range Safety Officer if you have any questions. • When driving to or from the Manual Trap Range, observe the 3 mph speed limit (a slow walking speed) everywhere on the range property. • Eye and Ear protection is REQUIRED.

  2. Please obey all safety rules. • All firearms are to be carried MUZZLES UP, ACTIONS OPEN. • All firearms are to be placed in the racks, unloaded and with actions open, except when shooting. • No gun handling behind people. • Load only one or two rounds.

  3. Biodegradable Birds Only • Only Biodegradable Birds are allowed. • Keep clear of the throwing arm except when loading a bird. • Keep away from the foot pedal release except when launching a loaded bird.

  4. Cocking the Trap Machine • With your foot well away from the foot pedal release, rotate the throwing arm into the cocked position.

  5. Be safe • Remove your hand from the throwing arm, and keep outside of the yellow safety ring.

  6. Loading a bird • Load a biodegradable bird onto the cocked throwing arm, between the rubber bumper and the black line on the throwing arm. This is the only acceptable area on the throwing arm to place your bird.

  7. Use Caution • Remove your hand, and stay well outside the yellow safety ring. • The bird is ready for launching.

  8. Launching the Bird • With your hands well outside the yellow safety ring, place your foot on the foot pedal release and press to launch the bird.

  9. And away she goes . . .

  10. Los Altos Rod and Gun Club • Clean up your hulls and trash during your stay, and before you leave. Help us with our recycling program by using the designated containers. • Never leave the throwing arm cocked unless you are loading and launching a bird. • Remember our 3 mph speed limit.
