  1. Teachers’ Lab @ CERN Frederic Ganessane Jacques Jacobs Laurent Millet Govind Pandey Lidia Ranz A Working Group Proposal

  2. The Anteaters

  3. Aims • To reorganize the Teachers Lab • To have a hands-on experience of the experiments • Proposals for gifted students

  4. Aims • To reorganize the Teachers Lab • To have a hands-on experience of the experiments • Proposals for gifted students

  5. Aims • To reorganize the Teachers Lab • To have a hands-on experience of the experiments • Proposals for gifted students

  6. Exp 1: Photoelectric Effect Voltmeter Lenses This device can be used to show that the energy of light is proportional to the frequency of the radiation and independent of the intensity of the radiation Detector Mercury lamp Operational Amplifier Aperture Interference filters Capacitor

  7. Measuring Planck's Constant

  8. Exp 1: Photoelectric Effect Measuring Planck's Constant

  9. Canadian Group: Photoelectric Effect

  10. Canadian Group: Photoelectric Effect Measuring Planck's Constant

  11. Exp 1: Photoelectric Effect Measuring Planck's Constant

  12. Exp 1: Photoelectric Effect Measuring Planck's Constant Planck's constant with data from the documentation

  13. Exp 1: Photoelectric Effect • This experiment didn´t work • The beam was not aligned • The operational amplifier didn´t work correctly • It seems nobody has done measurements since last year • When touching wires the measurements change • Not appropriate for our students

  14. Exp 2: Fine Beam Tube

  15. Exp 3: Electron Diffraction Tube

  16. Exp 4: Cathode Ray Tube

  17. Exp 4: Cathode Ray Tube • Guide for students • Guide for teachers • Guide for technicians

  18. Exp 4: Cathode Ray Tube Guide for students

  19. Exp 4: Cathode Ray Tube Guide for teachers

  20. Exp 4: Cathode Ray Tube Guide for technicians

  21. Guide for students translated into Spanish

  22. Exp 5: Electron Spin Resonance

  23. Aims • To reorganize the Teachers Lab • To have a hands on experience of the experiments • Proposals for gifted students

  24. Visit to Geneva An international experience for high school students (16-17 yrs)

  25. Teachers´ Lab a friendly place

  26. Teachers´ Lab a place to invent new experiments in Modern Physics

  27. Conclusions • The proposed experiments require continuous maintenance • It is necessary to re-think and re-write the documentation of all the experiments • It would be great to find new experiments less expensive • A Teachers´ Lab in the Microcosmos Exhibition requires someone to supervise, maintain and explain the experiments
