  6. Status Registration What is status registration? - Status registration refers to the acknowledge of your status as an incoming exchange student at UIBE. What should I do to finish the registration? - Take your passport with admission letter, JW202 form to go to SIE (Aug.22-23, Basement, Huibin Bld) to do the registration. Insurance needed. Does any exchange student need to do it? - Yes! It is compulsory for each exchange student.

Course --- Schools/Faculties What you should know: • 20-hour Chinese course • Business Course • http://www.uibe.cn/app/en/ School of International Education(SIE) Exchange students are only allowed to take course from these three schools/faculties. (No more than 6 in total) School of International Trade and Economics(SITE) About: • Level Required • Pre-registration • http://site.uibe.edu.cn/site/ About: • Survival Chinese • Grade • http://bs.uibe.edu.cn/ • (updating) Business School

Title in here Title in here Submit the learning agreement Fill out the learning agreement One-week trial lessons Title in here Course--Registration NOTES Step 1 • Learning agreement must be finished carefully and submitted punctually. • In the learning agreement, 6 courses at most can be filled out. • 20-hour Chinese course accounts for4 business/economic courses. • Exchange students are only allowed to take courses in SIE, SITE and Business School. • No change once the learning agreement is submitted.   10. Course--Notes • About 20-hour Chinese • When register 20-hour Chinese course, you need to take a test held by SIE. Based on the result of the test, you will be arranged to different classes. Attending the test means you register the course. • Once you register the 20-hour Chinese course, you will be not allowed to drop this course. So please think it twice and check your schedule before you register this course. • 20-hour Chinese course accounts for 4 business/economic courses. That is to say that if you take this course, in you learning agreement, there will be only 3 courses. • Timetable • SIE: Aug.29 SITE: Aug.29 Business School:Sept.5

  12. Life in UIBE--Visa • Students who hold “Type X1” Visa need to apply for the “Residence Permit” in Beijing within 30 days after your arrival and go for a medical checkup. The School of International Education (SIE) shall assist you with the visa-related matters. • For students who are not able to get the visa in time can apply for a tourist Visa first and change it into “X1” or “X2” Visa after arriving at UIBE. • To change your visa into multi-entry, please go to the visa office. • Should you need any information concerning Visa, please consult our visa office. Life in UIBE-- ACCOM • Requirements: • Present your admission letter and your valid passport or any other identification card to the reception of Huibin Building. • You are not allowed to move to any other room without permission. • You should make a deposit of 2000RMB when you check in, which will be refunded to you against the receipt when you check out. If you lost the deposit receipt, please go to the office of the School of International Education to deal with it. • Check everything in your room in accordance with the list given by the receptionist. Should any of them is not in your room, report to the receptionist as soon as possible. Otherwise you will be required to pay for the lack of things (slippers, sheets …) • You may pay the rent in RMB for your room on the 1st - the 5thevery other month. Your delay will cost you 5% of the rent you owe. And a delay of more than five days will cause an order of check-out. • Pay excess water and natural gas fee monthly.

Life in UIBE-- ACCOM • For midway check-out for private reasons before the end of the semester, if you don’t live in the school dorm for three months, you have to double pay from the day you check in. The deposit will not be returned. And residence exceeding three months but moving out before the end of semester will be charged according to the price standard for long-term study, plus five days’ residence fees. • When you decide to check out, you need to submit an “Application Form for Check-out” (get it from the receptionists) and get signature from Office 106 of Huibin(6#)Building. No application is allowed without signature, and a copy of residence certificate or your flight ticket for off-campus living is needed if you move out of campus. This should be dealt with one week in advance. • Apart from the visiting time, no one is allowed to keep your friends or classmates or others in your room. Otherwise you will be requested to check out. There is no second chance! Should any further information is needed, please come to GEEC.

  15. Life in UIBE – Physical Check Physical check is not a must for everyone. It is required for students who will study in China for more than 6 months. For details: Room 106, Huibin Building 86(0)10-6449-5563

  16. Life in UIBE-Insurance According to the regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education, students of Non-Degree Programs must buy insurance as a necessary material to register. If you don’t have valid international insurance, you need to buy insurance when you register at SIE. It may cost no more than 600 RMB. Cash Only.

  17. Life in UIBE -- Others Information Collection Form should be submitted no later than Aug.22!! You will get your WIFI account in the first week. The username and password will be sent to you by email. WIFI DigitalIDPhoto(jpg;<50kilobytes) Recharge your card on the second floor of the Canteen. Use your card to borrow books from the library E-card Food Around 15~20 RMB per meal in on-campus Canteen. In general, the advantage should be 1200 to 1800 rmb.
