    1. Pinto Bean Project By Abby & Celeste 4th period 1 quarter Robert Louis Stevenson

    2. Introduction Research the facts The part of a flowering plant from which a new plant will grow. Problem to solve: 1. Farmer Pham needs to know the best way to germinate his pinto beans. Question: 2. how can we figure out the best optimal way to grow pinto beans?

    3. Materials 1)40 Pinto Beans 2) 4 Plastic Cups 3) 4 Ziploc Bags 4) 400ml Of soil for the beans ( any type of soil works) 5)Graduated Cylinder 6)300ml Sparkling Water 7) 300mlTap Water 8)300ml Flavored water 9) 300ml bottled water

    4. Procedures Take the cups and put them on a table. Label the cups and Ziploc bags. Take 100ml of soil and put the soil in 1 cup. Put the rest of the soil which is 300ml, into the other 3 cups. Put 10 pinto beans 1cm under the cup do this to the other cups. Water the beans with the different types of water, water the beans with 30ml. Water every day with 10ml.

    5. Observations & Data

    6. Observation & Data (cont.)

    7. Graph & Data Analysis

    8. Data Analysis 1) We saw that only on the 4th day there was germination. Also that some of them were gradually starting to grow. 2)Tap water, Flavored water, and Bottled water germinated the most. 3)The healthiest seeds were from the Tap water. 4)One thing that we observed that was unusual was that the roots in the Bottled water were above the soil.

    9. Conclusion 1) Our hypothesis was correct, we thought that tap would grow the best and it did. 2) The soil was always dry so that could affected our experiment. 3) What we would have done differently was to get moister soil. 4) Our recommendation for Farmer Pham would be to use hose/tap water.
