  2. In today’s economy, it is only natural for ordinary people to try to find ways to save money. Thus, more and more home and garden projects are being relegated to do-it-yourself tasks rather than being recognized as jobs requiring professionals. However, tree removal is such a risky business that it is unwise for inexperienced homeowners to do it themselves. The dangers of tree removal According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 36,000 people have to be rushed to the hospital for treatment due to chainsaw accidents when trying to remove a tree branch or a fallen tree every year. The problem is that some people tend to think that operating a chainsaw is as easy as it looks on TV or movies. The truth is that there are many factors to consider when using a chainsaw to cut down trees. These include wind velocity, tree branch/trunk angle, tension of the branch, and proximity of branch to other objects (such as electric and telephone poles and wires) among others. Even if you are somewhat experienced in using a chainsaw or choose to use manual tools like an axe, there are still a number of dangerous possibilities: Electrocution This is one of the most common accidents that happen whenever a novice tries to remove or cut a tree on his own. It is quite easy to misjudge the distance between a tree and an electric line, especially when you are too busy not getting yourself cut with a chainsaw. Fall This usually happens when you try to cut a high-hanging tree branch. Even with the help of ropes and ladder, it is still quite hazardous as you have to keep your balance while the chainsaw is in motion. Being struck by falling branch/tree The CDC recommends that the chainsaw operator warn bystanders to keep a safe distance from the ongoing tree removal or cutting as they can get seriously injured by a falling branch or tree. 3. Since tree removal is quite tricky, most homeowners make the mistake of simply hacking aimlessly away. Aside from being physically dangerous, cutting a tree or its branches without any knowledge on a tree’s biology can be detrimental to your tree’s wellbeing – particularly if you are just aiming to cut decayed or dead branches from an otherwise healthy tree. Another common mistake is to use whatever sharp tools may be available to cut down a tree. Contrary to popular belief, not all chainsaws are made equal. You also have to choose the proper chainsaw size depending on how big the project is. Furthermore, the tools should be properly maintained as a dull chainsaw can do more harm than good. Best Recommendation Tree removal or cutting projects are best left to the professionals, as they have been formally trained on how to use chainsaws and other tree removal tools. They are also well-versed with the safety guidelines and are properly equipped to do the job. Lastly, expert tree cutters know how to best cut and remove trees without risking an accident or unintentionally killing off a tree. Hire a professional tree cutter and stay safe.
