Australia To Replace Queen Elizabeth's Image On Its Banknote Australia's centralbank has announcedthat it will erasethe British monarchfrom its banknotes,replacingthelateQueenElizabeth II's image on its $5 notewitha design honouringIndigenousculture.Thedecisiontoleavethelatequeen'ssuccessorCharles III offthe $5 note means noBritainbasedmonarch will remainon Australia's paper currency. "Theothersideofthe$5banknotewillcontinuetofeaturetheAustralianparliament," thebank said in astatement.The $5 bill is Australia's onlybanknotetofeaturethe monarch. TheReserve Bank said that it would consult withIndigenousgroups in designing the A$5 banknote.It will takeanumberofyearsto design andprintthenewbanknote. Until then, the current note will continue to be issued. "First, it will runonheritagecircuits like Kalka- Shimla and later it will be expanded to other places," Vaishnaw said.
