  1. Augmented Reality: Pokémon Go is just the beginning! www.bodhost.com/blog/augmented-reality/ August 3, 2016 The excitement surrounding Pokémon Go puts the augmented reality technology to the forefront: Now comes the breakthrough? Even in industry and logistics, Augmented Reality (AR) offers mass applications. The Mobile Game Pokémon Go is currently the most successful smartphone app in the World and the media stir up the hype with new stories. Due to the massive rush to the mobile AR game that is officially available in several countries, the server developer Niantic now goes regularly to its knees. Among AR means the computerized extension of reality: The real environment merges on the phone with the virtual world. Therefore, the hunt for the little monsters and their struggles find each other on square and streets, on beaches or in cemeteries in the middle of the public place – not on a home computer or game console. Mass hype about Pokémon Go altered perception A fascinating thing is hype about Pokémon Go and it is because that it changed the way we look at the World and take advantage of the digital opportunities. On paper, the idea is not new: the American scientist Ivan Sutherland has demonstrated the potential of augmented reality headset in 1965: attached to an articulated arm to the ceiling, enabling a user of overexposing metallic 3D cube on the decor of a room. But the real life examples of augmented reality use began to multiple very recently, particularly in industry, events, games and tourism. The most notable example we can see is from Boeing engineers who used AR to assist in cable laying operations in aircraft, this technology can today in a variety of areas in industrial and logistics use. For example, for production planning, in maintenance, as a digital guide in service and maintenance, in training and marketing as well as trade fairs. In the age of industrial 4.0 to Augmented Reality, it is a significant contribution to the development of digital and networked factory. Applications for Augmented Reality in Industrial and Logistics So directly the next steps could be shown for example in work glasses and warnings in regards to false handles are 1/3

Assembly and repair activities are simple, error-free and comprehensible if any necessary measures in the field of view are displayed and for example equal to the necessary fit to a spare part is displayed in the correct position. Even in the internal logistics, there is a wide field: Approximately when the truck driver sees literally right in front of his eyes, what he picks and to where to go. Or even when a virtual button is placed on a factory gate, a driver could open the gate when driving with his smartphone. Access can be granted but only if he sees the button through the mobile phone camera with an authenticated app and is entitled, according to the workflow driveway. Passersby without the AR app will only see a closed door without opening possibility. To use this technology, the user needs a screen on which the information can be displayed (for example, TV, Smartphone, Tablets, etc…). AR apps for smartphones have the advantage that they make the smart purchase of new hardware by avoiding the unnecessary hardware purchase. However, anyone who wants his employee to not hold an additional device in hand while working can use the data from smart glasses. Business Cases for the AR application In innovation laboratory of Lufthansa Industry Solutions, the current AR technology is analyzed continuously on their industrial suitability – specifically, to optimize their potential processes. Overall, it has identified about 20 business cases for the use of AR glasses and counted by way of example. These wearable hide information form the internet or any IT systems one into view of the user. Pick-by-Vision brings 25% increased efficiency As early as last year, DHL whose distribution center in the Netherlands adopted a pilot project for the AR supported picking. The camp professionals were equipped for three weeks with headsets and augmented reality application. The result of the pick-by-vision experiment: an increase in efficiency of 25%. Meanwhile, the logistics group has been working in several warehouses with the digital eyewear that located the products much faster and with an easier way. A use of this technology to postmen, which are used in unknown delivery areas, is drawn by DHL in Recital. Thus, they could find mailboxes or addresses much easier. DHL has partnered with the consulting firm Z point some time ago and its report they mentioned various existing or plan for the future devices, to make better use of AR. Since stationary devices for the logistics sector are rather unsuitable, the usable range is limited primarily to portable devices such as tablets and smartphones, head- mounted displays, which function as a kind of data helmet and smart eyeglasses like Google Glass or other models from other models from other manufacturers, they are still being developed at the moment. Numerous areas of application for augmented reality applications In addition to pick-by-vision delivering is also called as a prospective field of application. Besides faster scanning packages, the new technology will help to reduce delivery times, by taking on the role of the navigation system. The driver could get the direction information on data glasses or as in cars (an image projected on the windshield display). In addition, with the success of Pokémon Go this technology occurs for the first time into the mass consciousness. It is sprayed downloads records. Since July 5, the official release of Pokémon Go application in some countries, it has been downloaded 75 million times on both platforms, App Store and Google Play, according to the specialist mobility sensor tower. Pokémon Go took only 19 days to reach 50 million downloads, beating by far the Color Switch record with 77 days to reach the same figure. By comparison, the famous Candy Crush had taken 112 days to get to this level. Remember that the game in virtual reality still has room for improvement with several unopened countries. The expert expects 100 million downloads very soon. Moreover, Goldman Sachs, Analysts of the US financial services predicted that by 2025 at an optimal development 2/3
