So basically… develop improved pacing protocols in cardiac resynchronization therapy

The goal of this research project is to explore how changing existing default parameter on a model changes the model behavior. The model is used to test different types of CRT (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) in order to find treatments for people with heart failure. Changing parameters may help expand the ability of the model to test varying heart conditions with greater accuracy.

  • Ran several practice experiments on both Nimrod G and Nimrod O using more added resources

  • Completed the 5 initial model runs on Continuity

  • Found number of heart beats required to reach steady state for each model

  • Copied Continuity onto the Mahar and Osaka clusters, was able to run a model on the Osaka resource

Short Term Goals develop improved pacing protocols in cardiac resynchronization therapy

  • Set up Continuity on Gfarm so that clusters with Gfarm installed will be able to run Continuity

  • Start running the new model, which will vary parameters, on Nimrod using at least one resource

  • Continue to gain access to more PRAGMA resources and work out bugs for the resources that aren’t working on Nimrod

  • Research more about the specific parameters being varied to understand their relation to heart function
