  2. Fond of Thunderbird? Or looking for a back of your Yahoo account using Thunderbird? This small article explains how to backup Yahoo emails using the third-party email client Thunderbird. In order to create a backup copy of the emails stored in your Yahoo account, you must store them to a local folder on your system. Yahoo Mail Plus subscriber users get the offline access and it is quite easy to back up all the emails. Below are the steps help you create a backup without subscribing to the Yahoo Mail Plus.

  3. Before you get started: • Download and install the latest version of the Mozilla Thunderbird. 1 2 3

  4. Ensure a fast and stable network connection. • Install Yahoo POPS or YPOPS. 2 1

  5. Follow the steps below: • Open Thunderbird and click Tools.

  6. Go to the Account Settings. • Click Add Account.

  7. Choose Email Account and press Next. 1 2

  8. Type the name and the email address, then click Next.

  9. Choose POP and type localhost as the incoming server.

  10. Choose Global Inbox if you wish. • Click Next and your username doesn’t appear add it. • Click Next again and enter the necessary information. 1 2

  11. Go to the Outgoing Server. • Click Advanced and then followed by Add. • Enter 127.0.0.1 as the outgoing mail server and make sure that default port is 25.

  12. Check the username and the password. Authentication will be enabled via Thunderbird. • Enter your Yahoo email address. • Click No, not to use secure connection. Press OK twice. 1 2

  13. Go to the Server Setting tab and press OK. • SSL isn’t required so don’t check it. • Choose the destination where you wish send the emails. • Click SMTP and from the drop-down choose 127.0.0.1:25 • Follow the on-screen instructions and click OK.

  14. Now install a program called backup4all. Open it and go to Tools. Install the Mozilla Thunderbird plugin. Restart the system. Open Backup4all again. Click on File, go to the New. Choose a backup name. Press the Next button. Choose the destination as Mozilla Thunderbird. Press Next. Press Save and then Save and Run. Congratulations! You have successfully created a backup using the Mozilla Thunderbird.
