  • A non-profit community legal clinic

  • Funded by Legal Aid Ontario and other partners

  • Governed by a community-based Board of Directors

  • Employs lawyers, legal workers, and intake staff

  • Strong volunteer program

  • Provide FREE referrals, legal information, advice, assistance and representation to people living on a low income

    Communities Taking Action - April 2005Led to creation of Affordable Housing Action Network (AHAN)

    Interviewed 781 households: Homeless; At risk of being homeless; Precariously housed; Low income households

    Action Plan developed: comprehensive recommendations including property standards enforcement, homelessness prevention, and creation of an Action Network with diverse partners

    Two task forces established: Community Capacity Building, Advocacy & Awareness Task Force; Bricks and Mortar Task Force
