  3. Population • There were many ethnic groups in the past → differences in languages and life style • 88% Spanish, 12% Romanian, Moroccan, Ecuadorian, British • Density: 91.2/km2 • Recognised regional languages: Arabese, Basque, Catalan/Valencian and Galician

  4. History • 35 000 years ago – the first settlement • Dominion of Arabs • 1492 – discovery of America → the power of Europe • 1936 – bloody civil war → fascist dictatorship of General Franco • 1975-Juan Carlose I. • 1982 - NATO • 1986– member of the EU
