  2. In an autotransformer, both windings i.e. primary and secondary are connected to each other electrically. Those are NOT ISOLATED from each other. Some part of the whole winding carries Primary & Secondary currents (Power). An autotransformer is a tapped winding transformer that changes the voltage available locally to the voltage required by a particular load.
