  3. Starting Point Getting staff on board • Staff CPD session – all staff invited – (every teacher is a teacher of careers ethos) • Presentation to Governors • Set up CEIAG page on intranet • Explain 6 principles – who is responsible? • Give Head the checklist and audit tool

Checklist for head teachers Offer integrated and experiential programmes of careers education, WRL, enterprise & financial capability Appoint a lead for the local 14-19 online prospectus Ensure careers education challenges all stereotyping Ensure support is in place to deliver September Guarantee Review quality of careers provision Collaborate effectively in local partnerships • Review careers education provision against the Principles & key information • Place CEIAG at centre of the work of the school • Support the responsible senior leader • Ensure a careers leader has the resources and skills to operate effectively • Ensure effective training is in place for all staff • Support parents and carers • Encourage teachers to provide work related contexts for learning contexts for learning

Embedding CEIAG across the curriculum • WRL audit - KS3 and KS4 (KS5) • Encourage departmental careers boards, with a link teacher and pass information on to them • Do schemes of work identify where CEIAG & WRL activities are happening? • Have they got specific CEIAG & WRL objectives and outcomes?

  7. Plan the Calendar • Try to have a dedicated “drop down” day for each Year group to support the CEIAG programme • Involve as many tutors/teachers as possible • Year 7 – International theme • Year 8 – Real Game • Year 9 – Health Day (IAG)

  9. Key Stage 3 Delivery through Citizenship, Skill for Life and PSHEE • The Visitor (Tutors & dedicated staff) • Introduction to CEG • The Plane Game – mini enterprise & financial capability • International theme • Spaghetti Game (Egg Race) • The Egg and Balloon race

  10. Key Stage 3 • The Real Game Day • Post 14 career pathways • Stereotyping etc. • Mini games – e.g. Careers Taboo, What’s My Line • Support of Connexions – how to use the CRC • Health Day

  11. Key Stage 4 • Industry Day • Work Experience – Pre, Debrief Day & Post Work Experience (How departments use the experience) • Crimson Band/extended work placements • Post 16 progression routes • Leaving Record of Achievement

Embedding CEIAG Within The Curriculum • Science – mock interview day and enterprise day • Elements of BTEC/Applied Learning subjects – e.g. Bricklaying/Construction; Sport and Work Experience; Hairdressing; Media ( including competitions) • CoPE/Asdan – supporting small group of students • Common CV template for all to use

  13. The Future? • Specific resources for departments – e.g. SEND resources • The 7 – 19 framework – encouraging staff to use it in their planning • Collaboration/partnership with other schools • CEIAG audit – students & departments
