  1. How tripod shooting aims to better your accuracy and ultimately your shooting experience Man, as a hunter, may use the opportunities presented by a hunting expedition or shooting discipline to kill an animal, but this by itself begs the question - do we always realize what a great privilege and associated responsibility it is to hunt and kill animals? The moment a hunter makes that important ‘first shot’ at an animal, a great responsibility rests on his shoulders to ensure a quick and humane death, with the first shot. The hunter who does not approach the responsibility with the necessary seriousness should think carefully about his role as a ‘modern hunter’. Tripod shooting has been introduced specifically to prevent rifle movement and provide the shooter with the stability needed to accurately hit the target. Large quantities of game and other wildlife are annually injured because of gunshot wounds they sustained, which could have been prevented if the shooter hit his target. Practical shooting skills or the lack thereof are often the cause of an injured animal and its unnecessary suffering. Many hunters mistakenly think that firing a few shots at a paper target from a comfortable shooting position over a shooting range, is sufficient preparation for a hunting trip, or that they do not need the aid of a tripod when shooting. However, a few good groupings on the paper target simply means that the combination of rifle or telescope or ammunition combination is accurate. It does not reflect the hunter's practical shooting skills in the hunting field.

  2. The real test for this is to shoot a one-shot dead shot at a buck under field conditions. A responsible hunter must know his limitations in terms of his shooting skills in the hunting field and this knowledge is only acquired by practising regularly and responsible action (application of sound judgment) in the hunting field. A responsible hunter will also know when to rely on accuracy through tripod shooting. Long-range shooting nowadays is an activity that provides even the greatest opponents with great pleasure and also contributes a lot to better shooting knowledge and skills. This shooting discipline is difficult and requires disciplined practice, proper knowledge of your equipment and a fine sense of environmental conditions. Only then you get bullet and target brought together. More and more long-range shooters in recent times, are making use of tripods to ensure accuracy. Tripods can be found in a variety of colour and shape at almost any firearm company or gun store, or online. It is important to know that even with tripod shooting, a shooter may sometimes have to deal with vibration, but with the correct body position (kneeling or sitting) and muscle relaxation, you could lessen the wobble. Another important factor is the placement of the shooting tripod legs. Many experts would recommend one leg placed forward and two legs to the rear, for recoil control. If the force is enough to lift the front leg off the ground, the stability provided by the back legs will ensure that the firearm gradually settles back on the target. This way, the shooter can prevent the rifle from swinging in the direction of the tiniest resistance. Lastly, you may want to do your research before buying a tripod as there are many to choose from. Determine what your budget is and what heigh capability do you will need. You should also know how you will attach your rifle to the tripod and whether weight is a concern if you are going to walk long distances. Take your time to search the internet and find information that will bring you to a gun store that sells riffle accessories of the highest quality. Also, make sure that the price is reasonable and market-related. Taking these into consideration will help you make a better purchase and ultimately ensure a memorable tripod shooting experience.
