This game was said to have blended elements of poker and mahjong. While in the 12th and 13th century, the Egyptians were enthusiastic about playing cards and 16th century Persians invented Ganjifa (also known as a set of traditionally hand-painted treasure cards). Also, there was a historic and popular Persian game named “As Nas” which was similar to poker. The history of poker is much more than what meets the eye.
