Radon Danger In Your Home – Know The Facts

Radon is a metallic element in gas form. This gas can be very harmful, particularly because it breaks down into tiny particles which can get lodged in the human lungs. The particles are radioactive and hence can easily lead to lung cancer. However, not all people who are exposed to the gas risk getting cancer but the risks remain high.

  1. Radon Mitigation Services

  2. Continue... Radon is a radioactive gas you can’t see, feel, taste, or smell. It starts out as uranium, a heavy metal found in the ground and most rocks on the planet. When uranium decays, it turns into another metal called radium. When radium breaks down, it becomes radon.

  3. There are various Radon Mitigation Services : 1. Vapor Intrusion (Volatile Organic Compound) 2. Commercial Measurement and Mitigation 3. RRNC (Radon Resistant New Construction) 4. Multi-Family Measurement and Mitigation 5. CC1000 Compliance Guidance

  4. 1. Vapor Intrusion (Volatile Organic Compound) Vapor intrusion occurs when vapor-forming chemicals migrate from a subsurface source into an overlying building — similar to radon gas seeping into homes. Our team brings over ten years of experience in Commercial Vapor Intrusion Mitigation for both new construction and retrofitting existing structures.

  5. 2. Commercial Measurement and Mitigation If your building or office has radon, you will need to install a system that creates a negative pressure field underneath the entire building and routes a pathway either on the interior or exterior of the structure and releases it harmlessly above the roofline outdoors, where it naturally dilutes to a safe level.

  6. 3. RRNC (Radon Resistant New Construction) Radon-Resistant New Construction (RRNC) is a set of construction techniques consistent with state-of- the-art energy efficient ‘green’ construction practices, allowing for lower energy consumption and increased savings.

  7. 4. Multi-Family Measurement and Mitigation In 2013, the White House Council on Environmental Quality launched the 2013 Advancing Healthy Housing Strategy, which mandated that multi- family properties receiving HUD financing or refinancing are required to undergo radon testing.

  8. 5. CC1000 Compliance Guidance Radon1 is a full-service commercial contractor. We offer design/ build level services including consulting on CC1000 and HUD guidance standards for new construction.
