Tableau: Tableau is one of the most leading business intelligence tools to upgrade business faster and easy to understand by clients. It is a tool used for visually analysing data. Tableau is named as a leader of business intelligence and analytics platform in Gartner magic quadrant. It works on all kind of software or hardware devices where data flows. ● It has real time collaboration. ● It provides centralized location to manage all data sources. Download Tableau: The free version of tableau can be downloaded from tableau desktop. After downloading, we need to accept the licence agreement for installation. 1. Double click on the tableau wizard and allow to it install the program. Click on Run. 2. Accept licence agreement with terms and conditions. Click on install. 3. Now, start a trail. 4. Provide all the details needed. Click on register. 5. The registration is completed. Click on continue. 6. Now, verify the installation by opening tableau icon. 7. Finally, get started learning tableau. Design Flow of Tableau: The design steps to be followed to create effective dashboard are: ● Connect to a data source: Tableau connects to nearly every data source. It has an inbuilt connector to establish connections. ● Build data views: After connecting to data source, we will get all the column and data available in the tableau environment. Tableau has easy drag and drop feature to build views. ● Enhance data views: The views which are created need to be enhanced. ● Create work sheets: The work sheets are created for different views on same data or different data. ● Create and organize dashboards: Dashboards contain worksheets which are interlinked. The action in any worksheet can change the result in dashboard. ● Create a story: you can create a story to show how facts are connected, context provided, how decisions related to the outcome. Types of Data Types: The data types that are supported by Tableau are: 1. String: String is a sequence of Zero or any characters. They are enclosed with single quotes. Ex: ’DigitalLync’ 2. Number: Number data type is either an integer of floating points. Ex: 2, 123.56 3. Boolean: They are logical values. They are either true or false. EX: True or False 4. Date and Time: It recognises dates from almost all formats. Ex: 11/04/1993 Data Sources in tableau: Tableau connects to some data sources like File systems, Relational systems, cloud systems and other sources using ODBC.
Tableau Work Sheets: There are many operations to be performed on tableau worksheet. ● Adding worksheet: We can add multiple work sheets to the current worksheet by clicking right click on the current work sheet. ● Rename work sheet: To rename the work sheet, right click on the sheet and choose Rename option ● Save and delete work sheet: By clicking the right click on mouse, there appears save option and delete option. ● Reorder worksheet: we can drag and drop in the required position to reorder the worksheet. ● Paged Work Book: we have to arrange worksheets in shelf to make a paged Work Book.
