If you have worked for your employer for at least three months as an employee in Singapore, you are eligible for paid hospitalisation leave. Unlike sick leave, hospitalisation leave is only applicable in situations where you must be admitted to a hospital.

SupervisingleaveapplicationsismadeeasierwithQuickHR'sLeave ManagementSysteminSingapore!Clickherefor14daysfreetrial • Tobeeligibleforhospitalizationleave,youmust: • Bewardedinahospitalasanin-patientorfordaysurgery. • Bequarantinedunderanywrittenlaw.

Becertifiedbyamedicalpractitionerwhocanadmitpatientsintoan approvedhospital,includingmedicalpractitionersfromnational specialtycentersandambulatorysurgicalcenters. • Onceyouhavemettheeligibilitycriteria,youcanapplyfor hospitalizationleaveby: • Informingyouremployerassoonaspossibleofyourhospitalization. Youshoulddothiswithin48hoursofadmission,ifpossible. • Providingyouremployerwithamedicalcertificate(MC)fromthedoctor whoadmittedyoutothehospital.TheMCshouldstatethedateof admission,thedateofdischarge,andthereasonforhospitalization. • Completingandsubmittingahospitalizationleaveapplicationformto youremployer.Thisformisusuallyavailableonyourcompany'sintranet orHRportal. • Youremployermayalsorequireyoutoprovideadditional documentation,suchas: • Acopyofyourhospitalbill. • Aletterfromyourdoctorconfirmingthatyouwereunabletoworkdueto yourhospitalization. • Onceyouremployerhasapprovedyourhospitalizationleaveapplication,you willbeentitledtopaidleaveforthedurationofyourhospitalization.The amountofpaidhospitalizationleaveyouareentitledtowilldependonyour lengthofservicewithyouremployer. • Hereisatableshowingthehospitalizationleaveentitlements foremployeesinSingapore:

Itisimportanttonotethatyouremployerisnotrequiredtograntyou paidhospitalizationleaveifyouarehospitalizedfora non-work-related illnessorinjury.However,manyemployersdoofferpaidhospitalization leaveasabenefittotheiremployees.
