Badminton Terminology...

Equipment & Court

Shots

  • Drop shot

  • Wood shot

  • Overhead clear shot

  • Drive shot

  • Smash shot

  • Kill

  • Backhand

  • Alley - Area around the court 1-1/2 ft

  • Shuttlecock - shuttle, bird, birdie.

  • Racquet

  • Baseline – back boundary line

  • Short service line- go past to be legal

  • Long service line – drop before to be legal.

Scoring System –

- Men play to 15

- Women play to 11

- Best of three games

- Match point tie?

- Only win points off serve

Serving and Receiving-

- Even = R service court

- Odd = L service court

Lets – when is there a let?

When is the shuttle not in play?

Faults – when is a fault made?
