The tundra is located in the North and South Poles.
In the tundra it is warm one half of the year and cold the other half of the year. In the spring the male caribou has bigger antlers. Also in the spring some plants grow under the snow.
Tundra temperatures are below 60 degrees. Owls, bears, and wolves
survive with tons of snow and only little plants to eat.
People and their ancestors use to live in big round tents called Yarangas. People built igloos made from ice in the winter. People use to build skin huts made from skin. Today people live in brick houses. Some people today live in apartment buildings in one city in the Tundra.
The people in the tundra area wear very heavy clothing and animal skin like fur coats, pants; boots, hoods, and deer skin. Also they wear jeans, gloves, hats, scarves and lots of layers to keep themselves warm.
To get to the tundra you can fly on a helicopter or ride on a boat. In the tundra there is a lot of snow dogs. The snow dogs can pull you on a sled. You can use snowmobiles to travel around. To get to the other parts of the tundra you can float on ice blocks by pushing sticks through the water.
