Hanover County Communications System and 911 Center Project Approved 2005 Bond Referendum Project Construction of a new 911 Center Located on the south side of the Administration Building New Communications System Replaces an aging and outdated communications system (1991) Enhances radio system coverage (towers from 4 to 15) Enhances our ability to communicate with other localities and agencies Enhances system security and system reliability

Hanover County Communications System Project Coverage Objectives: Provide public safety personnel with a communications system that provides the required level of coverage needed to communicate within schools, commercial grade buildings and residential structures Construct towers in specified locations and at specified heights to provide 95% in-building on-the-hip portable radio coverage

Hanover County Communications System Project Communications System Design: Through the use of a Request for Proposal procurement process, Motorola was selected to provide: A 12-channel System to be shared by all public safety and public service departments and other County agencies, including schools, school buses, Ashland Town Police, and Randolph Macon College 15-tower and transmitter sites to meet the wide area coverage requirements 3 current County radio towers 3 commercial towers 9 new towers A public safety grade system which incorporate 700/800 MHz spectrum and digital technology A digital point-to-point loop microwave subsystem to link sites together

Hanover County Communications System Project Tower Site Selection Criteria Located towers in places that will work with other towers to create a system that provides 95% Countywide in-building on-the-hip portable radio coverage Use of existing towers Use of County owned property Lease or purchase of land as necessary
