Nu Flow Prevents Decay in Dental Office Compressed Air Pipes After Carmel Plaza Dental experienced the benefits of Nu Flow’s pipe rehabilitation technology on a 1/2” copper potable water system, there was no hesitation in calling them back for another project. This project involved pipes for compressed air rather than water. As with all mechanical systems, compressed air pipes and water lines have an expected useful life after which regular repairs or replacement are necessary. However, using a patented epoxy coating, Nu Flow can upgrade the durability of those pipes and extend their useful life. Project: Line compressed air system consisting of copper pipes using Nu Flow’s patented epoxy coating. Customer: Carmel Plaza Dental, a returning client for which Nu Flow previously had rehabilitated a cold water pipe system. Site: Carmel Plaza Dental Center, a dental office in San Diego, California, with dental chairs in seven treatment rooms. System: Compressed air system consisting of 1/2” copper pipe used to deliver air to power dental tools. Situation: The compressed air system was experiencing corrosion caused by humidity in the air within the pipes. This lead to a pinhole leak which forced the compressor to run more than usual to maintain adequate pressure. Solution: Nu Flow proved to Carmel Plaza Dental that their epoxy coating process is effective for water lines and used the same technology to renovate their leaking 1/2” copper compressed air system. After repairing a pinhole leak, Nu Flow cleaned the inside of the entire piping system and applied an evenly-coated layer of their patented epoxy to stop leaks and prevent corrosion. A pressure test at project completion verified that the system was no longer losing pressure. The entire process was completed using existing connection points to the pipe system and thus did not require demolition of walls or opening access points in the floors and foundation of the building.
