Operations Management

Operations management is a field of management that deals with the administration of an organization to maximize the efficiency within an organization. It involves the planning, organizing and overseeing an organizationu2019s process to achieving their required goals with the right use of labor and using the available resources to generate profit. The task of an operation manager is to ensure that the organizations inputs, labor and cost, are working in the right way to generate the desired output in effective manner.

  2. Operations management is a field of management that deals with the administration of an organization to maximize the efficiency within an organization. It involves the planning, organizing and overseeing an organization’s process to achieving their required goals with the right use of labor and using the available resources to generate profit. The task of an operation manager is to ensure that the organizations inputs, labor and cost, are working in the right way to generate the desired output in effective manner.

  3. Responsibilities in Operations Management • The operation management deals with manage the operations of the different department to achieve the goals of an organizations effectively. It means that the operation manager will be involved in various processes and looking at different strategies to achieve goals. Some of them are:

  4. Product Design • Product designing involves in creating a product that will be sold to any consumer. It involves in generating new ideas and expanding budget and thinking for the old ideas that will lead you to the production of new products.

  5. It is the operational manager’s responsibility to see if the products are according to the need of customer and matches the market trends. Consumers like the products that are good in quality not the quantity so the organization must ensure that their products are according to the needs of the consumer.

  6. Forecasting • Forecasting means the predictions of the upcoming events on the basis of the previous data. One of the important task of the operations manager is to keep their products update according to the upcoming trends or the consumer demands. The manager relies on past and present data on the uptake of the company’s products to determine future trends in consumption. Forecast helps the organization to keep their products updated according to market trends.

  7. Supply Chain Management • Supply chain management is the managing of the products from the raw materials to the finished product. It controls everything from the production, shipping and distribution to delivery of the products.

  8. The operations manager manages the supply chain process by maintaining control of inventory management, the production process, distribution, sales, and sourcing of suppliers to supply required goods at reasonable prices.

  9. Delivery Management • The operation manager is also in charge of delivery management as he also ensures that the products are delivered to the consumer in a timely manner. They also follow up that the products delivered to the customers are the right products that they ordered and they meets all their desired needs.

  10. If the customer is not happy about the functionality of the products or finds any fault in the product the operation manager receives the feedback and then forward it to relevant department.
