  2. Overview of the starting situation of Matosinhos ● The passengers and cruise ships traffic has a positive progress. However, these passengers disembark in Matosinhos to visit the tourist circuits outside the city. ●The port authority and the municipality have good relationships. It’s very important to the interventions in the city-port area.

  3. Integrated Project of Brito Capelo Street Development - to improve the urban comfort and the city image; to ensure the coordination between public space and economic activity. Integrated Project of Heróis de França Street Development - to qualify an important area of restaurants and to improve the city attractiveness. Main interventions and projects

  4. South Matosinhos Seafront Rehabilitation - to improve the public spaces and to develop the leisure and tourism activities Sightseeing Tour in a panoramic double-deck bus - to show the beautiful places of Matosinhos and to increase the number of visitors at the city.   5. Passengers Station Rehabilitation - to develop the leisure and commercial activities through the installation of a restaurant opened to the public. New Marina and Passenger Terminal - to create a new wharf opened to the city and to develop the tourism activities. Main interventions and projects (cont.)

  6. Key problem: Lack of attractive tourist places for the cruises passengers. Matosinhos is only the arrival port to other tourist destinations. Challenges our city wants: To create attractiveness through the restaurants and the commerce revitalization and the creation of cultural equipment and services in deprived areas. Development of the tourist activity.

  7. Share of experiences, ideas and contact with different people and realities from each partner. To define concrete strategies and actions that can be materialized by the city. Dissemination of good pratices at a local level. Expectations from CTUR project

  8. Expected results:To involve the local partners through the creation of the ULSG. This union can make the objective’s achievement effective. Effects from CTUR project:To transform Matosinhos into a privileged tourist destination.
