    2. The aim of registration is that people can expect services to meet the same essential standards of quality, protect their safety and respect their dignity and rights wherever care is provided, wherever they live. Whether care is provided in someone's home, in a community setting, in a hospital, however it is funded (private or public), and whether it is acute care or longer residential care - it will have a single set of essential standards of quality and safety. The essential standards are focused on outcomes - the experiences people have as a result of the care they receive. We have a wider range of strong enforcement powers ranging from warning notices and fines to removal of registration in extreme cases. These powers allow our enforcement action to be more targeted and specific.
