  2. Service & MaintenanceBatteries • Battery life • Battery-powered Synco 900 devices require 2 or 3 batteries type AA (LR6). • Typical battery life is 3 years. • Typically 3 years for alkaline / manganese batteries under the following conditions: • Capacity: >= 2,500 mAh • Typical HVAC application • New batteries (all) • Used within the permissible operating temperature range • SSA955: No silent mode (silent mode about 2 years) When changing batteries, always replace all exhausted batteries by new ones!! Rechargeable batteriesshould not be used, since self-discharge is excessive and – when nearly fully exhausted – the voltage delivered drops completely and very rapidly ( Bat Low display appears much too late).

  3. Service & MaintenanceBatteries Low battery When battery voltage is low (life ≤ about 3 months), the respective signal is sent to the central apartment unit via radio and a fault status message will appear on the display. Device state Battery capacity lowQAW910 3Room 1 24.04.2006 10:10 If voltage drops to a level where correct operation is no longer possible, the central apartment unit indicates breakdown of communication since radio communication with the unit is no longer possible. Device state Radio communication errorQAW910 3Room 1 24.04.2006 10:10

  4. Service & MaintenanceBatteries If battery voltage is too low (life ≤ about 3 months), this is also indicated on the battery-powered devices: Room unitQAW910 Continuous symbol on the LCD Room temperature sensorQAA910 Red LED after startup and after pressing multifunction button F Meteo sensor QAC910 Red LED after startup and after pressing multifunction button F Radiator control actuator SSA955

  5. Service & MaintenanceBatteries GAMMA wave devices indicate low battery capacity as follows: Short flashes of LEDevery 10 s Door / window contactwave AP 260 3 short flashes of LCD every 48 s anda short acoustic signal DELTA reflex smoke detector

  6. Service & MaintenanceBatteries Full batteryIf exhausted batteries have been replaced by new ones, the fault display on the central apartment unit will disappear as soon as the radio link is reestablished. The Synco devices indicate full batteries as follows: Symbol when pressing the multifunction button, no symbol in operation Room unitQAW910 Room temperature sensor QAA910 Green LED after startup and after pressing multi-function button F Meteo sensor QAC910 Green LED after startup and after pressing multi-function button F Radiator control actuatorSSA955

  7. Service & MaintenanceBindingTest To check the radio control link to the central apartment unit, Synco 900 devices can be used to make a binding test. On the central apartment unit, each successful binding test is confirmed in the form of 3 short acoustic signals. Also, an additional window appears, displaying information about the device just tested. Device info / number 03 Room 1Room unit QAW9100x00FDFF000833 V0.6 The additional window continues to be displayed until it is acknowledged with the ok or the Esc button, or until it is replaced by the new additional window the next time a binding test is made. Binding tests cannot be made with Gamma wave and Hager products!

  8. Service & MaintenanceBindingTest The binding test with the heating circuit controllers is made per channel. Use the Channel selection button to select the channel whose radio control link shall be tested. The LED of the selected channel blinks. Then, press briefly the multifunctionbutton. The binding test also displays the device number on the central apartment unit. With the help of that number, the device can be unambiguously identified  device list.

  9. Service & MaintenanceRemoving / Deleting Devices • A device can be removed from the system in 2 different ways: • Disconnect the device. • Delete the device. • “Disconnect the device“ should be used whenever possible! • “Disconnect the device“ is used when the device to be disconnected still functions and when it is within the radio control range. • Use: • A device was binded to a wrong room by mistake • A room sensor shall be replaced by a room unit • In a room, some other radiator control actuator shall assume the function of lead controller • . . .

  10. Service & MaintenanceRemoving / Deleting Devices • What happens in the case of “Disconnect device“? • The device will be removed from the central apartment unit‘s device list • Bidirectional devices will be reset to their supply state • Procedure: • Select the respective menu on the central apartment unit:Commissioning > RF connections > Rooms > Room x > Disconnect device • On the device to be disconnected, press the multifunction button until the LED starts blinking. • The central apartment unit confirms successful disconnection by displaying “Process finished“ and a bleep. 2. 1. 3.

  11. Service & MaintenanceRemoving / Deleting Devices • “Delete the device“ is used when the device to be disconnected is either faulty or no longer within the radio control range. • Use: • A device in the plant is faulty and must be replaced • An extra device was binded by mistake and is no longer present in the plant • …

  12. Service & MaintenanceRemoving / Deleting Devices What happens in the case of “Delete device“? The device will only be deleted on the central apartment unit‘s device list. The devices are not reset to their supply state, which means that they are still binded and try to make a connection to the “old“ central apartment unit!  Battery. If the central apartment unit receives RF telegrams from deleted Synco 900 devices, a fault status message “Unknown device“ is displayed. • Procedure: • Select the Device list menu on the central apartment unit:Main menu >Commissioning > Device list > Device x > Delete device • Select the device and dialog Delete device the dialog verifies one more time if the device shall really be deleted  ok. 1. & 2

  13. Service & MaintenanceFaults • Function “Faults“ is structured the same way as it is with the Synco 700 controllers: • Main menu > Faults > . . . • Faults current • Display of the current faults (1…10) • Acknowledge faults • Acknowledgement of all faults • Fault history • Display of the last 10 faults • Fault status message bus • Display of the fault status message on the bus (only the most severe fault is on the bus) • Delete faults • Deletion of the fault history
