  2. History of Dash 8 • Originally produced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) • Debuted in 1984 and was named the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 or DHC-8 • Now produced by Bombardier Aerospace • Since 1996 Dash 8’s have been referred to as the Q series • To date over 900 hundred have been built

  3. Dash 8 Performance • Original model was the DHC-8-100 • 37-39 passengers • It had two PW120A turbo props rated at 1490kW each • 440 km/hr cruise speed • 1520 km range • 25,000 ft operating altitude • Max take-off weight of 16465 kg

  4. History of the Q400 • Entered service in 2000 • Stretch version capable of carrying 70-78 passengers

Q400 Performance • It has two PW150A turbo props rated at 3620 kW each • 648 km/hr cruise speed • 2400 km range • Standard version has a 25,000 ft operating altitude • Drop-down oxygen mask version has 27,000ft operational altitude • Max take-off weight of 27330 kg • Has Active Noise and Vibration Suppression (ANVS)

Q400 Current Events • Between October and September of 2007 there were three major landing gear malfunctions (all on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) • No fatalities as a result • 2 the landing gear got stuck descending • 1 the right wing gear collapsed • Led to SAS to remove it Q400 fleet from service • February 12, 2009: A Q400 en-route to Buffalo Niagara International from Newark Liberty International crashed into a house in Clarence Center, NY
