EVALUATION AND RECOGNITION OF THE EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTS • International applicants have to submit the proof of their qualificationsrecognized in Lithuania: • Certificate of credential evaluation issued by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education in Lithuania. • Certificate of recognition of the qualifications issued by Ministry of Education of the Republic of Lithuania.   14. Admission calendar • Academic year begins in September and ends sometimes in June • Admissions take place between mid-June and mid-July • Foreigners have to start as early as possible • The deadline differs from institution to institution.

  15. Admission • On competition basis • According to marks obtained at National Exam Center (independent neither of secondary nor of tertiary institutions of education) • Possibility to apply at different institutions and different fields of study

Application documents: • Completed application form • Certified copies of certificates/degrees/qualifications giving access to higher education • Academic transcript (s) • Statement of purpose • Two or three photos • A copy of ID or page of passport • TOEFL or other language certificate • Sometimes, depending on institution recommendation (s)

After the course a test of Lithuanian language. • The test of Lithuanian language www.flf.vu.lt/lsk • Foreigners are charged fees for Lithuanian language course. Price depends on chosen university. • Fees for one semester varies from 870 to 1160 Euro.

  18. Scholarships for Language studies • Lithuanian State scholarship More on www.smm.lt Ministry of Education provides scholarships for Lithuanian language studies for students from Belarus, Montenegro, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

  19. Tuition fees • Statutory tuition fees for domestic students (150 EUR/semester) • Tuition fees for foreign students (if international agreement doesn’t state otherwise) specifies institution

VU TUITION FEES • Tuition fee for the international Master programme in VU is 3.700 Euro. • The tuition fee for the Bachelor programmes taught in Lithuanian language vary from 1.450 Euro to 6.950 Euro (for one academic year) • The tuition fee for the Master programmes taught in Lithuanian language vary from 2.175 Euro to 10.425Euro (for one academic year). • The tuition fee for the Doctoral programmes vary from 5.700 Euro to 8.000 Euro (for one academic year).

  21. DORMITORIES • For full time students • Foreigners have to contact International Office • Students live in single, double or three per rooms • Bathroom facilities and kitchens are shared among rooms on each floor

  22. DORMITORIES • International students dormitory: double room: 73 Euro/month triple room: 58 Euro/month • Accommodation in private sector:Old town: 290-870 Euro/flat/month Center: 116-580 Euro/flat/month • The price of the apartment varies considerably from city to city.

  23. Other expenses • Lithuania is not an expensive country to live • Cost of living is very much dependent on individual habits and life style • Expenses it is enough to have 300 Euro per month possible to spend 2000 Euro and more

  35. TEMPORY RESIDENCE PERMIT • Foreign students must have a temporary residence permit. • Usually for one academic year. • Each forthcoming year has to be renewed. • Application for TRP may be submitted to a diplomatic mission or to migration office of police department.

  36. TRPTimetable • After admission students are provided with all documents in oder to receive the temporary residence permit. • It takes about one month for EU citizens and up to 6 months!!! for non EU citizens to get a temporary residence permit.

  37. Work Permit • Foreigners must acquire a work permit • Students receive while studying • Limits: • right to work no more than 20 / week • from the second year of studies.
