WSC is a State & National Program • AmeriCorps State: • Largest branch of AmeriCorps • National partners include state and local programs like the Washington Service Corps and Washington Reading Corps • About 80,000 members serve throughout the country each year • Members serve in nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based organizations • AmeriCorps members address critical needs in communities across America

What are the Position Requirements? • Must be willing to serve 10.5 months • FT terms begin in Sept or Oct and last until July or August • Members serve full time – an average of 40 hours per week • Members serve a minimum of 1,700 hours before the end of their term • Must be 18 years old or 17 with parent permission • Must have a HS Diploma or G.E.D.

What are the Member Benefits? • A living stipend of $1,307 per month before taxes • Training and experience • Health Insurance Coverageprovided by the WSC, if needed • Insurance is for members only • Able to add WSC coverage at anytime during the year • An Education Award of $5,902 provided by the National Service Trust (CNCS) upon successful completion of the 10.5 month term of service and 1,700 hours • Student loan forbearance and interest accrual payment on qualifying loans • Subsidized AmeriCorps Childcare, if qualified, provided by GAP Solutions Inc. • Many colleges and universities offer a variety of incentives such as service scholarships or matching tuition funding (find full list here)
