    1. Collaboration Opportunity: SCM 593 - Corporate Project

Required for all MBA SCM students Second year MBA SCM students Four-person teams: 12 – 15 hours/week November through April Each team works with a specific company Analyze an SCM problem or opportunity Develop & analyze potential alternatives Provide implementation plan for selected alternative Overview

    3. Current Projects: 2010-2011

    4. Student Backgrounds/Experience 4 years average work experience SCM summer internship Varied prior education: Engineering/science, accounting, finance, etc. MBA core SCM courses: Supply management, TCO, operations, logistics, integrated SCM, project management 40 percent are international

Sponsorship Process Identify management sponsor and project champion Prepare project proposal on form (Oct. 1 at latest) Examples are available on website We will work with you on this Pre-screened proposals are ranked by students, but we assign project teams Most students are on a project they ranked highly No charge for project, but you need to cover special expenses, such as travel Typically 1 to 3 trips for out-of-town projects

Project Checklist Must haves: Project, rather than internship Management sponsor and project champion Project champion in regular contact with team Access to required personnel, databases, or other information Highly desirable Integrative experience for significant SCM problem or opportunity Includes implementation plan for recommended alternative

    8. Critical Success Factors A Project Champion who is excited about working with the team Timely access to necessary information and people. (Timely non-disclosure agreement, if required.) We provide: Structured project management process Teams report every 2 weeks to us, either written or presentation Major mid-project checkpoint in early March Mentoring/information from other faculty, as needed
